i have read in a topic in the unlimited forum that you can script fm to automatically print to pdf how can i do this

as currently if i want to print to pdf i have to set pdf writer as the defualt printer then change the page setups to scale down five % to get them to fit on a pdf as for some reason pdf have a massive page margin, unlike my other printers

please help cheers laugh.gif

also is it possible to add multiple print into one pdf this way

at them moment i print off various different layout to pdf and they are all printed to different file (obviously) but is there a way to put these all in one file as this is a great consumer of time having to do it manually

Hi there. I've been experimenting with this for a while now. There are two ways to print to .pdf from Filemaker if you don't have the Unlimited version (which I don't). You can print to .pdf if you have the full version of Adobe Acrobat if you specify the printer as "PDFWriter". There is also a freeware piece of software that accomplishes the same thing called "pdf995" . You just specify that as the printer and it converts it.

If you are looking to completely automate your .pdf file creation w/o even having to type anything in the dialogue box, you can get the program "Affiler" at: http://www.afeina.com . It works really well and is only $39!!

What I want to know is how to put FM fields into the .pdf to update them dynamically as Affiler only scripts and prints based on FM layouts which is great.

Hope I helped!!

Edward
