Why does FM Pro Adv. when hosting change IP address?

I use a 2nd computer on our network running FM 10 to connect to the 1st computer running FM 9 Adv. From time-to- time, the IP address for sharing on the host computer will change and I'll have to add a new IP address under Remote Access.

Why is that and can I prevent the IP address from changing?

The database host computer is probably getting its ip address dynamically by DHCP either from a router or a DHCP server.

You need to give it a static ip.
