Corey Ballantoni Posted July 23, 2000 Posted July 23, 2000 My company has used File Maker for years on MAC computers, but they have decided to switch to PC's. When we transferred the database from the MAC's to the PC the layout on the screen was fine, but when we print the a sheet the layout becomes misaligned. We have sheets of data that display operation numbers in one column and they must line up with the operation data in another column. Well on the screen the numbers line up with the data, but when we print the sheet the numbers no longer align with the data. It worked perfectly on the MAC version, but when used on a PC we have that problem. What could cause this problem? Please help.
danjacoby Posted July 29, 2000 Posted July 29, 2000 The problem is that, while Macs are WYSIWYG ("What You See Is What You Get"), Windows machines are not. As a result, you have to fiddle. It's a pain, but MS doesn't seem to have an answer. Additionally, font sizes in Windows are slightly larges than on Mac. This, too, could create problems when switching platforms. I recommend that you either create repeating fields for your columns, or (better!) a relationship and portal. Either way, you can set things up in the layout so that your columns match perfectly.
