Hey kids.

The company that I work for has offered to pay for some training for me. If I can't find FileMaker training, what would complement my FM knowledge?

SQL? C++? Visual Basic? Something else?

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Paul

Hello pspafford:

There are a wealth of FM training resources. Mac/Windows Academy (www.macacademy.com) offers many training videos and classes. I went to their FM boot camp, and it was great.

I would reckon that knowing VB, SQL and relational database theory will help you with FileMaker, because it has characteristics of each. FM is very object-oriented, but there is no "code writing" in its traditional sense. You will notice some similarities between the code written in VB and your scripting in FM ScriptMaker.

Hi Paul,

Have you tried FMPtraining.com. Jerry Robin is a great trainer! I went to one of his sessions at the last DEVCON and it was very helpful. I am considering some lasso training. I think it's a natural extention to FM if you are interested in Web Database intergration.

Good Luck
