Hi all, this seems very easy but has been driving me mad!!

I have a portal with the fields:

Date from - Date to - and Number of hours taken

Once a member of staff takes some holiday the admin types in how many hoursa they have taken.

On the same layout I have a field called Total hours taken.

All I want is for a total of the hours taken from the Number of hours taken field.

I've tried sum but that just adds the last record.

I've looked at summary of Total hours taken but the Number of Hours taken filed is greyed out!!

Any help would be gratefully received.

Is the number of hours taken field number, or text?

Hi Jon,

In the table that your portal is based upon, create sTotalAmount (which is summary field 'total of amount'). Place this directly on your layout. It will work if the amount is number, which is Vaughan's reason for asking AND if the summary field is created in the child table.
