Get(ActiveFieldContents) driving me crazy ...

Featured Replies

  • Newbies

I am trying to use Get(ActiveFieldContents) to populate a further field that I am using for a relationship. I assume that this filed would update with whatever field I was active in etc. - But, noting I do seems to get it to populate.

This driving me crazy. The Filemaker Help talks about the field that has 'focus' but doesn't define what this actually means.

I am sure I am being very dense here - Any help much appreciated.

Rob

Hi Rob,

'Focus' means that the cursor is in the field. If you wish to set a related field, then you will be setting the first related record (if it is a one-to-many) unless you use a portal.

Usually if a value exists in the parent table then there is no need to write the same value through to the related record. It might help if you explain what you want to do.
