Script trigger for empty portal

I have a portal that has 2 script triggers on it, each triggered via different fields in the portal. When the portal is empty (ie no portal rows), I cannot trigger any scripts. The only way is to set up the portal at a button, but then I loose the ability to trigger the scripts I need on the two fields I mentioned above.

Is there a way to trigger a script on an empty portal without setting it up as a button?

I don't understand; are the script triggers attached to the portal or the fields? Do you mean button, by chance?

What are you trying to accomplish?
