I have a backup of a hosted file that when I attempted to open it, gave the error message: “The access privileges in this file have been damaged or possibly tampered with. Please contact FileMaker Technical Support if the problem cannot be resolved.” Any suggestions for accessing this file? Recovery doesn't work!

More than likely there is something wrong with your deployment that damaged the files, like OS-level file sharing on the folder (or a parent) of where the live files are, something like virus scanning, indexing, ... all the usual suspects.

I hope that you do have an earlier backup that you can open?
