Newbies Alan G Posted November 1, 2001 Newbies Posted November 1, 2001 Hello, I am using Filemaker 5.0 and 5.5 on windows 98/ME computers. I hace a file with a container field (audio note)that records or plays a spoken list of facts. The sound recorder that comes up will only record for 30 seconds. This is not long enough for some of the needed entries. Can this time be extended? Also can the sound file in this field be edited or added to from within Filemaker? Thank you for your time.
Vaughan Posted November 2, 2001 Posted November 2, 2001 I'm not familiar with the sound recorder: it is part of FMP or a Windows accessory?
Newbies Alan G Posted November 2, 2001 Author Newbies Posted November 2, 2001 As far as I know it is part of file maker. It is mentioned in the FM users guide and online help in connection with sound in container fields, but ther is no discussion of limits or editing functions for the sounds. If you make a container field, enter browse mode and double click on the empty container field, the recorder will pop up.
LiveOak Posted November 2, 2001 Posted November 2, 2001 There probably are some limitations inherent in this process. I noticed when I attempted an insert on my Mac, I got a possible max time in the progress bar of 3:07. Changing the FM RAM allocation didn't change this. It also didn't appear to depend upon the disk space available. Maybe Andrew can jump in and explain this one. I just have not used sound recording enough to have addressed this problem. -bd
