Have you checked if your ram is identical to the first stick in model number?  If you upgraded with a different size, brand, or model of memory, it can cause your computer to run in single channel vs dual channel mode which although now there is more memory, it will run slower than 2 identical sticks of memory.

Also, you may want to search online for memory testing applications that will let you test whether any of your installed memory has issues.  Defective memory can also cause performance issues.

If you can provide more information such as your model of Mac and the memory you upgraded with, I may be able to provide a more detailed answer.

Hi Wayne,

thanks for digging up this question after such a long time - yes, the problem is still here :grin

I have a MacPro 1,1 and the memory slots are copied from the profiler below. I *just now* noticed the error reported on the first DIMM. I'm pretty sure that wasn't the case when I installed it, because I would have seen it after installation. I don't know what an ECC error is anyway. This may or may not be the problem.
