calling a calculation - Simulate a custom function

I have looked @ Agnés Barouh's chargeFoundSet and fell in love with what she did. She is a great developer and was trying to do some tests out by making my own calc call a calc and it works.

I was wondering if this was desired behavior or is this something i should shy away from?
