Newbies devuser_tom Posted April 6, 2012 Newbies Posted April 6, 2012 Has anyone run SQL queries against ESS sources with success? I have no issues on non-ESS tables but my finds on ESS tables take min. 30 mins or come back with a 101 error. These are simple finds/queries. Both my non-ESS and ESS tables have about 1 million records each, both have the same fields (I'm comparing 2010 data vs. live data). Thanks in advance.
RalphL Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 The SQL Plug-ins are for using SQL within FMP, not for ESS. FMP has a method of creating SQL quires without a plug-in see the ESS documentation or help file.
Wim Decorte Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 Agreed with Ralph. ESS is all about interacting with the external data *without* having to revert to SQL queries. ESS allows you to use your FM skills to work with external data. If you want to use SQL queries, you can use the built-in SQL functionality (somewhat limited) or make a detour to the OS to execute your SQL queries and return the result to you.
