networking 5 in a Mac & PC envoronment

HELP! I was just put in charge of saving a sinking ship. The solution that was created by someone other than me is having problems transferring data from Mac to PC. The server is Mac and it seems to be dropping info from the PC. Similar problems Mac to Mac with other scripts. Someone please help and point me in the right direction.
