Newbies spantec Posted March 30, 2002 Newbies Posted March 30, 2002 I'm not a Mac person. If I create a run-time version of an app for MacOS on a CD (say), how does a Mac user install it? Is there a tool like InstallSHield? Thanks.
danjacoby Posted March 31, 2002 Posted March 31, 2002 Nifty thing about Macs -- you don't need an installer! Just write the solution to the CD, along with the proper "Filemaker Extensions" folder (details are in the manual), and anyone with the CD can download it onto their hard drive & start working. Unlike Windows-based PCs, Macs don't automatically change files to "read-only" when they're written to CDs. However, if you want an installer, I suggest using the Aladdin DropStuff utility found in all new Macs. It's easy, cheap (read: "free"!), and you can create a self-extracting archive with it, so the user doesn't need any special software.
