We're receiving 'Admin Server Connection Error: The Admin console cannot establish a connection to the admin server' errors intermittently, after only a few minutes connection; initially we can log into admin console, and use it to open files, but then intermittently this error appears. Thoughts?

Running Win7 Pro x64, 4 GB RAM/Intel Quad Core Q6600 @ 2.40 GHz, FM Server 11.0.3.309

Also, I see in log, at 3 min 5 sec intervalks,

"Administrator 'fmsadmin' no longer responding; connection closed (192.168.0.21)

where 192.168.0.21 = IP address of FMServer

Then 7 sec after I see 'Administrator connection; "fmsadmin [192.168.0.21] (fmsadminserver)."

I'm not connecting to admin server at this point, I wasn't sure if this is significant, or what it means?

You may want to restart the admin server from the command line to start fresh:

fmsadmin stop adminserver

fmsadmin start adminserver

watch for any errors when doing so

If the problem persists immediately after that then I would suggest something on the network.

Thank you, I tried this, no error was reported on DOS command line. Oddly the intermittent disconnection problem is occuring BOTH on our production server AND our backup server. The backup server, has no open files yet exhibits the same problem. Both are attached to the same switch, and I have power cycled it, though I haven't seen any LAN errors.

Update:

At the same intervals, I see the following in the log C:Program Files (x86)FileMakerFileMaker ServerAdminadmin-master-tomcatlogs

Does this shed any insight on the problem?

I am running Bonjour 2.0.0.34 and Java 7 Update 4 along with 6 Update 32 and JavaFX 2.1.0, Win 7 Pro.

I now believe this is caused by one of the hosted files. When I host the FM Sample database, problem does not occur; when I host our other databases it does. So I'm going to try to do a recovery and determine if that's the case for certain, if problem goes away.

Try that:

Stop the Bonjour service, open task manager and check for a process named mDNSResponder.exe. If it appears, kill it, and then start the Bonjour service.

Under normal circumstances, you're supposed to see one instance of mDNSResponder.exe when the Bonjour service is running.
