Win98 Shortcut to Hosted File

Featured Replies

  • Newbies

My user deleted the shortcut on her Win98 desktop to a file hosted on the Filemaker Pro MAC server. I can't remember how I created the shortcut. The closed I've come is:

Target: "C:path to filemaker" ip.ip.ip.ip:filename.fp5

This connects to the host but then can't find the file ":filename.fp5"

Can someone tell me the proper syntax? Or, a different way to load the hosted file in one easy step?

Thanks,

Karra

The best way to do this is with an "opener" file. This is basically a little Filemaker File which runs a script on opening that opens the main file(s) from the server, then closes itself.

Its purpose is to use Filemaker to get the files opened rather than file sharing, which gives you the best performance.
