Any elegant way to run Ruby scripts (and capture any errors) from a Filemaker script?

Basically I am using a ruby script with the mechanize gem to fill out a web form on an external site with data. I'd like to use data from my filemaker database and return a success or a failure (the form website either displays a page or it hangs up on an error page if the data is not on the external site's db which is not accessible at all). Feedback is always important, but here it is really important.
