Filemaker has a big problem with statistical fields in huge tables.

Whenever I go into a layout with a statistical field such as an average which is attached to a table with huge amount of records, FM just stop responding for a while. Even the "Cancel" button is not responding. That is quite pathetic in 2012.

A way to fix that would be to calculated the fields into a separate thread that updates the field dynamically while running through the records. That way, no more freezing.

Hope someone from FMI read this thread!
