Steven H. Blackwell
FileMaker Pro version 4.0vx and 4.1vx are not certified for Windows XP. There have been a number of reports related to FMP 4. You will likely need to continue to use an older version of Windows or upgrade to FMP 5.5. DykstrL
I'm wondering if it's the same problem I have been having with FMD 5 and W2K and XP. If the user logon does not allow installing software, the register is locked and does not allow registering the solution extension to the runtime engine EXEcutable. Add in Microsoft Office and the FM runtime extension usually gets assigned as a Word 'auto-file' and then a regedit fix is required. Since W2K, quite a few IT shops have thought that this is a way of locking down the user's desktop and prevent them from 'messing things up'. The down side is that the simple running of a FM runtime requires a visit by IT support to the machine, log on as administrator and run the solution once to allow registration of the extension.
