Auto Launching FM

Featured Replies

I am trying to automate FM with an email program. I am using WindowsME and have Task Scheduler open the email program automatically. It sends the emails, then closes the program. The problem is, I need to have FM open for it to read the database.

Can FM and its file be opened automatically some how using Task Schedular (or some other means)?

Thanks in advance,

Kip

Goto www.wilsonware.com and look at WinBatch. It is a macro programming language that can do all kinds of controls in Windows. Like opening programs and/or file, as well as sending keyboard sequences.

Provided Windows Scripting is installed, a simple VBS script can open a FileMsker Pro file. It can also run a script within FileMaker Pro for you.

If your Filemaker database is password protected try one of the suggestions above. Otherwise, just use task schedular and point it to the FM database you want to open - you don't need to open FM first.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions! I will use the Task Scheduler to open my database as it is not password protected.

WinBatch looks interesting, and I may give it a try someday. ***Note*** I think the suggested URL should be http://www.windowware.com/
