carl9861 Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 As a newbie to MySQL and EDS techniques, I have set up MySQL locally on my PC and am able to see the x4 tables and the x1 view that I have created via an ODBC data source in FP12. My problem is that I can bring in the tables into the relationship graph, but when I try to bring in the view (which includes 38,000 rows) FP12 crashes. The view appears to perform normally in the Command Line Interface. Am I doing something wrong? A quick relply would be very much appreciated.
mr_vodka Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Does it officially crash where you get an error message or does it just seem like it is stuck? If it is the latter then try and wait it our for a while. I have had similar experiences when connecting to Oracle where it take forever to do anything in the graph. Needless to say all my ESS shadow tables are now in a dedicated fm file.
carl9861 Posted August 1, 2012 Author Posted August 1, 2012 Sadly, it's the former. As soon as I select the view from the dropdown I get the dialog 'Filemaker Pro Advanced has stopped working'. The software is running on the latest version (e.g. 12.0v2). Any further suggestions?
mr_vodka Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Have you tried a new file? Also do you have access to modify the view and put a limit on it?
carl9861 Posted August 2, 2012 Author Posted August 2, 2012 I have since discovered this topic http://forums.filemaker.com/posts/3563eb5bb3 which highlights the need for the MySQL Connector/ODBC 5.2 alpha driver. I've installed the driver and can confirm that it appears to have solved the problem as I can now bring all views and tables into FP12. Thanks for the replies.
