Thinking about creating a filemaker solution running fm pro 12 advanced? Will supercontainer work or do I need FM server?

Yes, SuperContainer can be deployed in "standalone-mode", which allows for its usage outside of FileMaker Server's web publishing engine. In addition to this, you can also deploy SuperContainer in your own instance of Tomcat. Take a peek at the deployment options in our documentation, which goes into more details on this.

Can Supercontainer work with FMGo 12, without server connectivity (like for the iPad/iPhone user at a remote construction site without cellular connectivity - as in 90% of the world)? I can't seem to decipher the deployment options @ 360Works relative to an IOS deployment.

Hi Kirk,

SuperContainer works with FileMaker through the use of a web viewer on a layout. The web viewer points to a file on the SuperContainer server, so in order to see SuperContainer files in FileMaker, you need a network connection to the SuperContainer server machine. If a user does not have network connectivity of any kind, they will not be able to see any files on the SuperContainer server machine, and the web viewers will appear blank.

I think our MirrorSync product could suit your needs better. It is a database synchronization software that allows users to modify (offline or online) local copies of databases and upload their changes once they are connected to the hosted file again. You could have your users sync their local database file (the one on the iPad/iPhone) with the server before heading into the field. Then they make changes while on-site and sync once they regain network connectivity later in the day. Check out MirrorSync here: http://360works.com/filemaker-sync/
