Hello to everybody.

I really need a help to solve a problem which is driving me crazy.

I have the following tables:

- Contact:

- Information: in this table are stored all the information about the contact, such as email, phone numbers, addresses and roles

- Company

Each contact has different roles, addresses and can also be member of different accounts.

Each company can have different contacts, a unique email address (for example [email protected]) a phone number etc..

Each contact can have different roles and addresses according to the account. This means that Mr. White can work both for ACME and GENERAL MOTORS and he will have an email address related to the different company. ([email protected] and [email protected]).

I'm stucked, someone can give me a hint?

Thank you very much.

M.

I'm somewhat of a novice myself but maybe I can help.

Are you familiar with One-To-Many Relationships, Many-to-Many Relationships, and Join Tables? If not, the FileMaker Pro Training Series, Module 3, is a great place to start. Googling "Join Tables" brings up three great articles at the top, including one by Dwayne Wright, who's taught me a ton of things via his blog. In fact, in his article on Join Tables one example he lists is: "Phone Number, linked by clients, leads and vendors". That sounds a lot like your question.

Please let me know whether this is helpful to you, or if you need more specifics.

thanks

Once you have a firm grasp of different types of relationships, look into the party model, which addresses exactly this kind of contact data structure.

Thank you guys for the quick response. I found the links you 've provided very helpful.

I have just one more question: I've seen the party model and downloaded a template, but I can't figure out how I can relate the different address of the Contact to related account.
