Im interested in using applescript to extract information from emails and automate insertion into a FMP database.

Can anyone point me in the direction of good manuals / web sites to develop my skills

Unless you are trying to post process a bunch of old emails, a MUCH easier method is to use an email plug-in such as POP3it to receive emails directly into FM. See www.pop3it.com.
