Import from Excel - preserve hyperlink

Featured Replies

I have several spreadsheets that I'd like to import to FMP 12. Each spreadsheet is a list of documents. One column contains page numbers, and each page number is formatted as a hyperlink to a local file reference (on Windows), e.g. file:///C:UsersuserNamedocumentsfolderNamedocumentName. Clicking the link opens the related file, which resides in a subfolder relative to the directory the spreadsheet is in.

When I import into FMP 12, all that's imported is the page number. Is there anyway the hyperlink can be imported and then used to open the linked document? I wonder if I could insert a column in the spreadsheet to show the file path itself. Unfortunately I don't know Excel all that well.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi Tom,

I cannot check right now but you might try one of these (I can't look at excel so I'm winging it):

1. Right-click the hyperlink and then click Remove Hyperlink on the shortcut menu.

2. Select the column (back up first), copy to another new column then Paste Special as values.
