Using portal tool to create an invoice

I've just created my first invoice using FileMaker Pro and I am quite satisfied with the outcome.

I am getting the expected result as far as information and summary information.

There are place where an improvement could be made. I am using the portal tool to display each line item making up the invoice. I've got the number of possible row for the portal listed to 8.

However most of the time ( > 95%) I will only have one or two line items to be written on the invoice. Being at 8, this cause to have a lot of blank lines between this line item information and the summary information.

Is there a way I could have the number of row to be written depending on the number of line item to be written?

With regards!

Daniel

Portals are not the most flexible option for printing because each row must be the same size. The best options for invoices that allows the rows to be different sizes is to create the invoices layout in the LineItems table, and use the Go to Related Record script step to select the correct LineItems for each Invoice, ten sort them and generate the totals with Summary fields.
