TKnTexas Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 I started working Filemaker Pro in 1997 with v3. I created a database to track daily sales; which were being logged in monthly Excel worksheets. After building my solution I imported all of the data back to when the restaurant opened. I have always kept copies of work I did for employers, my personal portfolio and archive of how I did something. In my sales table there was one record per day. I created a field for SDate (sales date current day-original input). I created a field that was SDate.lag7, SDate.lagLastMonth, SDate.lagLastYear. With ver3 I created relationships between each of these and SDate. I had fields to look up food and beverage sales by the relationship. Each day when we entered sales for the day before, it immediately populated the fields for last week, last month and last year. We could print a little summary for the owner when he arrived. I was his star for this little piece of magic. I apparently since 1999, have lost the file for this. Since I had had to recreate it from scratch when our computers were stolen, I thought no biggie. Well I cannot get it to work. I can create the SDate, SDate.lag7, SDate.lagLastMonth, and SDate.lagLastYear. I am now working in vers12. I create table occurences for each relationship. But when I enter sales for today, I do not get last week, last month or last year. I would appreciate thoughts on this. I have had a request from a potential client for this very tool.
TKnTexas Posted March 5, 2013 Author Posted March 5, 2013 If it helps, I have attached this image of the relationships. Since I did it once, I am more frustrated at not being able to do it now. I know more now than when I did it back when.
