Import accounts/contacts from Excel

Featured Replies

I have an Excel spreadsheet with data such as Company Name, Address, City, State, Zip, Phone, web site, contact last name, first name, title, e-mail, phone, etc. Each row is one record. Obviously, there could be a lot of duplicate information as relates the Company data, if there are several employees from the same company.

My FileMaker Solution has an Account tab with the account info and also a Contact tab with the contact info. There can be many Contacts for the same Account. How can I do an import to the FM solution so the Contacts are properly imported and related to the Accounts with which they belong?

I am running FileMaker Pro 11 and also have FileMaker Go accessing it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Don

Does each column and row have names?

Have you tried dropping it onto a icon of FileMaker?

Each column has a heading...such as Company Name, Address, City, State, Zip, Phone, etc. Then each row contains the info making up that record. Not sure what you mean by dropping on the icon.

FileMaker will convert an Excel spreadsheet to a FileMake file if you drop it on a icon (or the application itself).

I have figured out how to import from Excel. I have imported the Account data to the Account table and also the Contact data to the Contact table. What is missing is the relationship link between the Account table and the Contact table so the correct contacts are with the correct accounts. Does that make sense?

Do you have a Key Field in both tables (worksheets)?
