Newbies blackjack Posted January 14, 2001 Newbies Posted January 14, 2001 Our db has approximately 40 different TextToDate fields formatted as date and more than 2000 records to update on a regular basis. It has recently become necessary for us to search for students whose last screening date ( vision or hearing, etc.) falls on a specific date. Our find layout has a date field but it isn't working for the TextToDate searches, returning a "no records match" message despite knowledge to the contrary. The calc fields all display as 1/14/2001. This is the same format we type in the date field in find mode. Help, what are we missing?
Anatoli Posted January 14, 2001 Posted January 14, 2001 Are you searching in the calculated date field?
Newbies blackjack Posted January 14, 2001 Author Newbies Posted January 14, 2001 No. We have a specific Find layout that contains one each of date, text, number and time fields. Our db tracks screening dates and results for the school district. Because so many individuals that help with the data entry are unskilled at keyboarding, we discovered numerous type-o mistakes. The db was changed from date fields to 3 text fields, for each scheduled screening, totaling more than 40 (X 3). The reasoning was that value lists, containint months of the year, days of the month and current school year made entry so easy anyone could do it. We combined the 3 text into a calc field formatted as text then into a second calc field (TextToDate). We assumed we could enter the TextToDate result into a standard date field on the Find layout and it would track for us. If I enter the date directly into the TextToDate field, it works but it only finds those dates entered for that particular screening. For example, we have five 3-field combinations for DTP. If I enter Find mode on the datra entry layout and use the TextToDate field for DTP 1, it only returns screenings for the 1st DTP shot. We need it to find ALL screenings (not just the 1st DTP) on a particular date. Can this be done? Thanks.
