May 20, 201312 yr Hi All: Just a dumb question: Do I need to create a user table in my db if I plan to use Active Directory on Windows Server? This is my plan (not tested still): http://fmforums.com/forum/blog/13/entry-83-the-power-and-advantages-of-external-server-authentication-with-filemaker-server/ Thanks in advance! Mary
May 20, 201312 yr I use a user table that stores additional information and flags for the users in conjunction with my AD/EA. However, if it just to manage the users of your system then AD with EA should be just fine.
May 21, 201312 yr Author Thanks John. Thinking about your answer, another dumb question: if i do not the user table, How it is possible to know who is using the record and create audit trail of the db?. Thanks again, Mary
May 21, 201312 yr When using AD/EA, using Get ( AccountName ) will give you their login account name.
