No interactive Word or Excel

I'm using an FM12 Enhanced Container to store client docs. If I drop pdf or image files into the container they are interactive. That is to say I can scroll down the pages of a pdf in the container, even movies play in the container. However Word or Excel docs are only displayed as an icon and so I must export them before I am able to view them. I do have MS Word & Excel 2011 for Mac installed.

 

My question is: Is this normal behaviour or is there something wrong with my setup?

I have googled this issue but cannot confirm either way.

 

Help would be very much appreciated.

FileMaker container fields do not support treating Word or Excel documents as interactive content. Your setup is fine.
