Locked Out of Field

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I am using Filemaker 10Pro and hit a wall.

I created an invoice layout that works great for all my needs.

Now I needed to add a deposit field to it that can be subtracted from the total invoice.

All i did was add a new field called deposit (number field) then created an additional calculation field to subtracted it from the total to create the final invoice field. Seems simple enough. The total invoice and deposit field are both in the same table so there should not be any linking issues.

The problem is I am locked out of the deposit field and cannot enter a number into here. It has to be something basic that I am missing.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Enter Layout mode and select the field. From the Format menu, open the sub-menu Field/Control and select Behavior. Make sure that "Allow field to be entered " … "in Browse mode" is checked.

I found out what the problem was.

I had copied the field from a previous calculation field, which seemed to I guess carried some of the formatting or something from the previous field that I based it on. When I created a whole new field based on this new item all was fine.

Thanks for the comments. It got me thinking and after checking things that you outlined I was able to resolve it.

Much appreciated.
