is there any way to retain text formatting applied in Filemaker upon export to Excel? For example, if I format a claim:

 

Brand X showed significant improvement over placebo

 

Is there any way for the bold and italics to transfer over to the Excel export?

Filemaker exports only data, not styling applied to the data. It's possible to convert the styled text into marked-up text by using the GetAsCSS() function - but to make the result useful in Excel would take some serious work.
