Newbies niss Posted April 25, 2001 Newbies Posted April 25, 2001 I need to build a royalty free cross-platform runtime CD-ROM. I want to use Flash5 for the front-end UI and hook this up to a FM database using XML to exchange data and queries. Firstly, is this possible? and if it is which version of Filemaker do I need to develop with? Note the CD will be distributed to many users and needs to be a runtime stand-alone solution with no licensing costs for end users, i.e. I want to pay for 2 FM Developer licences for Mac and Windows. The plan is to migrate the CD product to the web hence the use of XML and Flash.
yafreax Posted April 25, 2001 Posted April 25, 2001 Flash can integrate with FM and it can be done without XML. The latest edition of Filemaker Pro Advisor talks about it. I'm sure you can also find examples on the web. As far as the liscensing and runtime, i don't know. It's my understanding that the web/intranet cannot interact with stand alone solutions. Good luck all around. Jeremy (sorry it wasn't extremely helpful)
MpWiedemann Posted April 25, 2001 Posted April 25, 2001 Jeremy is right. There is no web or multi user interaction possible with runtimes created in the developer's edition. You can only do this with the full version or with Unlimited.
