Container merge field or some such. . .

I have created a merge letter. . . with in this letter we need to have the guys signature at the bottom of the letter. . . we do not want to lock ourselves into a strict template by pre-placing the signature. . . SO my question is. . . how can i get the signature to work like a merge field. . . i tried using regular merge field syntax. . . <<c_sign>>. . . but no luck. . . sliding doesn't work either. . .

HELP! !!!

Why doesn't sliding work? I do this with my correspondence database. The letter print layout is up to 5 pages of body text with the signature at the end, and everything slides up peachy keen (to fit one page usually).
