Tom England
Why is it that page breaks appear in different places dependent upon what zoom level I have the view on. Seems very odd!!!
BobWeaver
If you are referring to preview mode, it's because the display rendering is only accurate at certain magnifications.
Tom England
This is a problem for me in LAYOUT mode, the dashed line showing the page break appears in different places on various zoom levels. It varies by about 2-3 inches dependent upon the zoom! [ November 16, 2001: Message edited by: Tom England ]
BobWeaver
Interesting. [scratches chin and puffs on pipe] I would expect the page break might shift a fraction of an inch at some zoom levels, but 2-3 inches is really weird. What version of FM, and what computer are you running on (I noticed the Mac icon in your post, but just making sure)? And, what kind of printer do you have connected? Tom England
Version 5.5 - and running on PCs and Macs, but developing on PC. Networked printers but doesn't matter which one I am using it still happens!!!
Anatoli
The most consistent results I've achieved with GOOD PostScript printers. No one can rely in design on standard non-PostScript printer.
BobWeaver
Yes, Postscript printers are the best. The reason that I asked about what printer is being used is because Filemaker retrieves page size data from the printer driver. If the information from the printer driver is not accurate, then Filemaker will not get the page break in the right place. I've had a problem with Epson printers where in certain situations, the page orientation gets mixed up and Filemaker starts showing the page break for landscape when it's actually set up for portrait. That would give you a 2-3 inch error. I would check out the printer and driver before blaming Filemaker.
