This seems easy and should come up all the time (but i guess not cuz i ran a search and nothing turned up).

Is there a way to center a object in the layout easily? With out having to use my brain?

First turn on T-squares and centre the horizontal square over the layout (or the part that will fit into the window. No drag the object onto the T-square and it will snap onto the edge, then the centre if you keep dragging.
