...and the solution on FileMaker's support site does not work!

http://www.filemaker.com/ti/107897.html

There is no "Cancel" button, only a "Stop" button. Pressing that does not produce a navigation dialog, only a warning about canceling the installation, then returns to the main installer window.

I have posted several Instant Feedbacks, to which I have yet to be graced with a response.

It's rather difficult to ascertain what the problem is from the original message. But if the issue is that the 5.5v2 updater is not working, be sure that you have not renamed the 5.5v1 application from how it was originally installed.

Also be sure that you are logged in under the root level.

BTW, Anatoli, trashing FMI isn't going to get you any sympathy from me and makes me far less interested in helping answer any questions that might arise. As an independent developer, this company and its products afford me a very comfortable business and enable me to travel all over this country and others working with FileMaker Pro developers, clients, and end users. The company is not perfect, and neither by far am I. But your comments are particularly odious.

It is not "trashing". It is the truth. I wish it wasn't, but it is.

FMI has 20 serious questions on their table posted by me.

I never ever had any reply from them.

Did I ask you for any sympathy? I've spend with Apple/FMI more than 150 000 US dollars during 20 years. When I had problem, I never get any reply.

I am regularly helping users with opposite opinions. I am not asking them first to comply with my personal believes.

So don't bother to answer for any of my question.

I thought my question was quite clear, at least if you read the name of the topic.

No, the updater does not work. It cannot find the copy of 5.5v1.

The instructions do not say to log in as root, but I tried that anyway, to no avail.

I even put the updater in the same folder as the app. I wish whoever wrote the "fix" actually tried it, and at least got correct which buttons are available.

Let me know if they respond smile.gif I think there is one Instant Feedback account, which nobody checks in FMI.

Typical Apple culture -- we do not have single problem, everything works for everyone in every situation.
