Hi,

 

I am trying to import records from a .txt file and Filemaker sees each line as one item, instead of allowing me to mapp each field (seperated by commas) to the correct field in FM13 Advanced.

 

Here's a single line to show you the format I'm using:

 

"7/21/2014","14505226","1413405","AME200018","45","LMP     GE Refl Lamp","","e","4","4"

 

Can anyone show me what's wrong with this format that FM won't read these as separate fields?  

PS - I also tried fixed length, and tab delimited.  Same thing...FM sees it as one big field.

Change the file extension from .txt to .csv

That's strange. I have no problems importing comma-separated files with a .txt extension.

maybe it is a window problem but the jodie's single line saved as .txt imports into a single field, saved as .csv imports into 10 fields.
