Objects Won't Slide

I'm having problems figuring out why objects won't slide up for me.  I'm working on a new application for the office to do employment documents.  To provide more flexibility I'll have to have some merged paragraphs meaning the letter closing needs to slide up based on the object above.

Doesn't seem to be working for me.  In the sample file attached there are two layouts, one with the closing (text & sig graphic grouped) and the other with them ungrouped.  Neither changes how the objects slide.

Any advice?

See the attached sample. You just need to increase the height of your merge field (the content of your letter) so the bottom of the field is closer to the signature. Just leave the desired gap between the two elements and the content area of your letter will reduce in size as you are expecting.

FileMaker does not remove the blank spaces between objects, it only reduces the size of the object to fit the content.

Thanks, I just checked it in my prototype and it works fine now.

I just extended the body text box until it was at the top of the grouped signature (lower) box at the bottom and poof it works.  I was expecting it to "slide" the signature box up to the bottom of the upper box
