Newbies plyon Posted May 7, 2002 Newbies Posted May 7, 2002 Hi Everyone, I am running FMP 5 on a dedicated Filemaker Server (TCP/IP) and a Novell 6 network which is set up and maintained by abn outside organisation. The PC's are having difficulty holding onto the network protocol. I have re-congigured this several times and the novell network technician has ghosted the image across to each PC. It occassionally works when trying to access the FMP database thru the Network Application Launcher but all too often the Filemaker network settings are set to 'none' and I have to reset it in preferences, close filemaker and relaunch from the NAL and it works ? Does anyone know anything about this stuff or pointers to where I might ask? Regards Peter
Anatoli Posted May 8, 2002 Posted May 8, 2002 FM needs just TCP/IP connection between server and clients and it runs without any other network help. You must run FM server on WinNT class machine, Linux machine, Mac OS or Mac X. Do not enable the clients (Win or Mac) to see the hosted files -- files must by opened by clients via HOST button. Where in this is place for Novell or any other network I do not know at all.
