Password access gone?

Featured Replies

about 6 months ago we moved all our FM dbs onto filemaker server 5.0v2

Some are passwd protected, some are not. One of the passwd protected dbs has two levels of users with passwords. The master and the user.

For some reason, as yet unknown, this db when opened bypasses the prompt for passwd entry and deafaults to the user level. Hence its not possible eany more to log with the master passwd. I have tried shutting down the server and opening up this db with fmp v5 unlimited, but the same problem arises.

How do I get the passwd prompt back?

thanks in advance.

In windows:

hold down the schift key while opening filemaker with the database.

it will force filemaker to display the password prompt.

Then you need to go to: edit -> preferences -> document

You'll find a called something like "try standard password" in the window you now see. Deselect the option and filemaker will always give you a password prompt.

Don't know exactly how it's done on an Apple computer but I think this will help you on your way if you are using an Apple computer

On Macs it's "alt" key

[Also known as the option key]
