Newbies Bizouman Posted May 9, 2002 Newbies Share Posted May 9, 2002 I have read some place, printing problems with "Portal"... I have a new feature in my solution, I change repeating fields with a portal... The thing is: I have a list (2 rows) for each dataline for AirConditionning equipment, most customer can fit in one page... but with shopping mail and 250 units.... that can be a problem.... I have try it, it will be a NCR 3 copys on a dots printers, I have done some test on a HP Laser, and I have some cuts in between pages... FM always gave me some problems with printing (long story short, no one ever return any message on news group about my problem)... So in my layout, I have on top from releated records names, address of job site. FIELDS Parts need for maintenance another releated. SMALL PORTAL then I have the List from another portal... and this one can go on for 3-4-5 pages Any ideas how to make a print safe solution on continus paper :? Someone mentionne to me "goto releated-See only" script step, sub script, make a list view (never work with the "list view" thing) any advantage ?? and I will have to make in the EQUIPMENT database some new relation to have on top NAMES and PART ?!?! Is that the better way ?? and WHY FM Copr can't make some better printing feature before starting to talk about FM6... fix your printing problems ?? don't you think ??? Fitch
The somebody who told you to go to related records was right. That's how you print a long list -- from a list layout, not a portal. Another advantage is you'll be able to make your list look much nicer by including sub-summaries. So put your job site and maintenance info in the header, with the list below. Try it! I'm happy to help if you need more information.
