date format

I have a filemaker database file that has all the date fields formated as 'mm/dd/yyyy' but I would like it to be formated as 'dd/mm/yyyy' . When i format the field using the field format option in layout mode only the mask of the field is modified but i want to modify the data of this field. It only works if I set the Use system formats (on) but it shouldn't work that way.

Can anyone help me please ?

Hi,

for a permanent fix to this problem, choose save a copy as and specify the type as clone no records.

This resets the database to your system formats. You can then import your existing data into this clone.

Then, rename the original to filename old or filename wonky dates and change the name of the clone to what the original was. confused. I am!

Anyhow, this will give your dates the format you are after.
