I want to start faxing parts of my FM5 (Mac OS9.1) data and need suggestions/recomendation from users for faxing software compatible with FM5. Infor about advantages/disadvantages would be appreciated. Many thanks, Greg.

Hi,

I am using FaxExpress softare. Like printing from a script you can send faxes in the same way. Examples are supplied and it works great. Using it for 2 years now, never had a problem. I am using an old Mac Quadra as the FaxServer.

Look at: http://www.glenwarne.co.uk/plugins.html

Two fax solutions that are Mac friendly and networkable are FaxElite and 4Sight Fax. FaxElite is a networked, single modem solution. 4Sight Fax is the high end option and will support up to 24 lines (that as many lines as you can cram 4 port serial cards in a 6 slot PCI Mac 9500/9600). FaxElite is pretty simple to AppleScript to. 4Sight Fax is complex to script to, but there is a decent 3rd party utility. FaxElite is in the two hundred dollar range. A 4 line 4Sight Fax setup will set you back about $5,000, including modems.

Single user solutions which integrate with FM include faxSTF. Take a look at the FM web site and do a search on fax.

Any recommendations for faxTool? I think I forgot to mention I have a network, computer contected to the modum is not the hosting server, the command for the fax could be from any of four hosts on the network.
