How do I create a value list which contains records from two tables

Hi Forum

I'm in the process of creating a service module for our customer database. The products requiring service can be either hardware or software, and I have them as separate tables.

My idea was, that when creating a service sheet for a product in the service table, selection for the product could be done from a single popup lookup value list. The value list would show all products, both hardware and software, related to a customer.

I'm totally open to good ideas and suggestions, as I'm stuck here :-)

I've attached a simple sample file which hopefully shows what I'm trying to achieve.

Cheers

Peter

IMHO, the value list should stay the way they are, as you do have two separate functions, Hardware and Software. However, you never edited the fields involve to include the ability to select a hardware or software product.

I modified the file, see if this isn’t what you want. Let me know good or bad. :)

Thanks for the reply, but did you upload your modified file? - looks like my original! :)

I modified your file, and didn’t change the name of it though. Check the Hardware and Software fields

Sorry, not quite what I was after.

On the service tab, from the 'lookup product' field, I would like to be able to get a list of both the hardware and software products relating to the customer.

So the list would look like:

Luxel - 8

Screen 8800

XMF

Blackmagic Pro

Then select this product for creating the service sheet.

Hope that helps!
Thanks

Peter
