I'm looking for some sort of instruction on setting up a sync between Microsoft SQL Server and a FM Go solution on iPad. I spoke with someone from 360works last summer. What I remember from that conversation was that it was fairly simple. First setup the sync on Filemaker Server, then somehow port it over to SQL Server. But after going through the Filemaker Server setup, it just doesn't seem apparent to me how to follow through with the next steps. Also related to this, I remember tinkering with this last summer and ran into a roadblock. We are running a fairly old version of Microsoft SQL Server and apparently some driver was missing from MirrorSync that would allow it to communicate with my older SQL Server. (we are running MS SqlServer 2000 - 8.00.2039) Does this ring a bell with anyone? Because of other applications running on this server, we cannot update it at this time.

Thanks Jesse. Your last sentence intrigued me. We have a large set of customer data spanning the entire country. We have sales reps that cover specific geographic regions. Currently they only have a slice of the customer data that pertains to their region. It sounds like we can use some sort of dynamic scripting to ensure that the sync only includes their specific region and not the whole country. Right? Exciting if it's true.

Again, I'm just getting started setting up a test sync to see if mirrorsync will work for us. Our app uses what I guess has been termed the "data separation model". All of our layouts and scripts are in on file1.fmp12 file along with the security (list of users and their privileges). A second file2.fmp12 file containing all of the data and a single "admin" level user sits alongside the first file. So the user logs on by launching file1.fmp12 and the relationship tab under "manage database" shows the links to all of the tables in file2.fmp12 with relationships. So with all that being said, when I'm setting up mirrorsync, step 1 had me copy and paste tables. I pasted them into file1.fmp12. I pasted the scripts also into file1.fmp12. My intention is now to setup all of the required layouts for the tables being sync'd into file1.fmp12. I thought that before I spend a half hour setting all that up I would ask here if I'm taking the right approach or not. I appreciate any followup advice on this.

Hi all. I'm looking for recommendations for the best sync tool available to sync between an app on iPad (FM12) and SQL Server 8. I see Mirrorsync2 and it appears to be the hot prospect. But I'd like to know whether it really is as good as it states, or are there better options. I'm looking for simplicity for the users. A simple single click by the user to perform a sync periodically. Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions/comments.
