  1. We are seeing the same thing as well. Many of our users are hitting FMS for reporting purposes through ODBC and the connections are staying open. We also have custom applications accessing the data via ODBC and they to are in the list even though the code is calling the disconnect and dispose for the connection.
  2. Is it possible to check for the ERRORCODE element not equal to 0? If so, how? Just starting out with FMP and XML/XSLT and need to do some error checking for users accessing FMPDSORESULT XML data with a XSLT style sheet. Thanks!!
  3. Delete and recreate the temp folder where FileMaker stores its tmp files.
  4. Does the Use Remote Connection for the ODBC FileMakerPro Driver Setup work thru a firewall?
  5. Is their an easy way to insert a new record in a portal inbetween existing records? I have a layout with a portal that shows 22 rows and the users want to be able to insert a blank row in the middle of existing records in the portal. The portal is currently unsorted, so the records show in creation order. What I want to do is like the insert row command in a Microsoft Excel WorkBook. Any ideas?
  6. Currently we have about 40 users accessing FMServer through a firewall and all the other users reside on the same side of the network as FMServer. Sometimes the users that access the server through the firewall receive a message that the database couldn't be found and an open dialog boxes appears. If they cancel from the dialog box and choose the same button to open the database again the database will be found. I'm not having the problems with users that aren't going through the firewall. The users that are having the problems does vary and doesn't seem relative to their hardware. Everyone is using TCP/IP network protocol. The IT people claim it is an application problem. Has anyone else ran into this problem? Does it have anything to do with software time out?
  7. I just spent the last two hours with the same problem. I found that the align text can't be centered. It would only slide if the alignment was set to top. I didn't try bottom. That worked for me, so I would check your alignment on your field.
  8. I also have the same issue with text getting cut into pieces between the bottom of the first page and the top of the second. I have several large fields that can contain more than one paragraph each, so my layout stretches across several pages. I am using slide printing to remove the white space and that seems to be working okay, but when you reach that magical length among these large fields and the record gets spanned a crossed more than one page the data may sliced into two pieces in the middle of a line. Maybe a paperless work environment would be the answer. Any other ideas or suggestions?

  10. quote: Originally posted by ROBVOIGT: Is it possible to have a field that displays a calendar? Ideally the user would click on the field, a calendar would pop up, and the user would click on a date and the date would then fill the field. Anyway to get this done? Thanks! RV You might try a plug in. I know that their is a couple of plug ins available for calendars, but never used any.
  11. I currently have a multi-platform solution with about 25 db files that are tied into fmserver. Is it possible on both the mac and pc platforms to send a user directly into the server without choosing host and then the FP5 file? Only one of the FP5 is not set to Multi-User hidden, so that is the file the users open and attached to that database is the startup script to take them where they need to go. The question is can the user double click an icon or something to that effect from the desktop or start menu or laucher and go directly into the database with the startup script without choosing host and the FP5 file? 12. Does anyone know if you need to build an AppleScript to be able to send mail through FM5 or will the Send Mail function work? Currently attempted to perform script with Send mail on apple and it doesn't work. Currently using Netscape Communicator on Apple. Also tried Eudora Light per help instructions and it doesn't work. Same script attemted on Apple works with PC using Outlook. ::? [This message has been edited by Jamie Tougas (edited June 01, 2000).]
