Is it true that the FileMaker Pro 5 Server is not a DBMS (Database Management System) product? If it is true can anyone please give me more detail on how it function and do we need it for web publishing? Thanks:-)

Anyone know whether if the FileMaker Pro 5 Server must be install in order to do networking,e.g to share database with other pc with FM Pro 5? Is it true that the FM Pro 5 Server is need in order to host and share databases? Anyone who know the answer please email me. P.S Speed is not important in this matter. Thanks for your help...
