  1. I am trying to create a schedule database for printing presses that is day to day/shift to shift specific, based on a start and end time (or run time). I know that I might have to do some work to get it all linked properly, I am just trying to find a plug-in that might help. Any suggestions? Thank you Version: Developer v6 Platform: Mac OS X Panther
  2. I hope this answer is posted somewhere and i just haven't found it.... I am trying to print a report of several different layouts combined into one layout... there are many different fields and I have them all "sliding/printing" up so there isn't any "dead" space when output. All the fields are in the "body" section of the layout. The problem I encounter is that at least one of the fields gets "cut-off/sliced" and the rest of the field starts at the top of the next page. Is there a way to eliminate the cutting of a field? I've read the post by BobWeaver and that doesn't seem to fit my problem, because of the multiple fields, multiple field sizes and the users ability to change the font and font size. Does anyone have a clue on how to fix this??
  3. I have a database that contains data as well as images. It is hosted with FM Server 5.0 on a Mac with OS 9.2.2. When a Mac laptop with a secondary monitor at a remote site logs on, the data is visible and editable, but the images are not. When the secondary monitor is unplugged from the laptop, the images are viewable (on the laptop monitor). Does anyone know why this happens and how to fix it. My client can't unplug their secondary monitor every time they want to see the images. - thank you

    Wheel Mouse

Unfortunately, the wheel part of my wheel mouse still doesn't work in Filemaker :-( Thanks for the great commentary! S.
  6. Thanks a billion..... the "GetSummary" solution worked like a charm! I know the answers are there, I just need someone to point them out to me (that is why this forum is so valuable). Filemaker is limitless! ;-) thanks again! S.
  7. Hello all of you super smart people.... I have an interesting question.... I have a report that is sorted by month. There are 2 totals in the sub-summary section, total cost and total invoiced for each month. I need to get a profit margin (invoice summary/cost summary) for each month and a separate profit margin for the grand total (trailing grand summary) for all the months. When I create a field (margin summary) and place it inthe sub-summary part, I get the grand total margin not the margin summary for the each month. How can I get the margin summary to "summarize" only the sub-summary total and not the grand total?

    Wheel Mouse

I agree with you about OS X being half baked...Unfortunately, I am the "Tech Support" person at work (which is a printing/prepress company) so I get to "test" all the new stuff to "check compatibility". I have struggled with OS X for about 5 months now and in my opinion, it needs work. There are things that we are being forced to live with and work-arounds that seem redundant to OS 9. One of the good things that i have found is speed in accessing files from a Windows Server. Thanks for trying... I guess I am stuck with "another work-around" ;-)

    Wheel Mouse

The Wheel Mouse works in the following OS X applications, Internet Explorer, my Mac Mail application, the address book, ichat, Photoshop, Excell, Word and Illustrator. I loaded the driver provided with the mouse from Logitech and I am able to program it using the system preferences in OS X. Is there something that I might be missing?

    Processor Hog

I am running Filemaker v.6 in OS X on an imac - 350 Mhz. - 160MGs of RAM with a 6G HD, Filemaker is proving to be a processor hog... and I am not able to run much of anything while I am runnig Filemaker... is there some sort of upgrade that I missed? Or is there a way to turn down it's "hogness"?

    Wheel Mouse

I have a Logitech Wheel Mouse that worked fine using Filemaker v.6 in system 9 but won't work with Filemaker v.6 in OS X... I have contacted Logitech and they promise that it is the application not the mouse... Will Filemaker v.6 work with any wheel mouse?
  12. Thanks for the suggestion..... I will keep you posted... ;-)
  13. Yep.... I am using the OS X installer.... I thought about trying the OS 9.x installer but it defeats the purpose of my company upgrading to OS X and FP 6... Is there some "setting" that I need to change? Have I missed something?
  14. Maybe I am doing something wrong... but, when I try to install FM6 in OS X onto a new computer (G4, 1.25Ghz with 2GB of RAM), the following message appears "The Software to be installed requires 8 MB of total machine memory (RAM), which this computer does not have." What can I do about this? Help
  15. Hello, I am in the process of converting my company over to OS X and have installed FM Server for OS X and it seems to be running great (it sure does look different - but it's the running that matters). My boss is a technology junkie and wants to jump into running FM Server on OS X Server. I have read in this forum the good, the bad and the ugly - but haven't seen any overwhelming evidence to jump or not to jump... does anyone have any suggestions.... should I jump? thanks
